هل سبق لك أن لاحظت بعض الطائرات تقوم بهذا؟ هناك أنواع مختلفة من هذا النظام، ولكن هذا النوع بالتحديد يسمى "عكس الدفعِ من النوع الهدف". عند تفعيله، تُفتح أبواب شبيهة بصدفة المحار لعكس تدفق غازات المحرك الساخنة، مما يُنشئ دفعًا عكسيًا يعمل ضد حركة الطائرة الأمامية، مما يساعدها على التباطؤ. يشبه الأمر استخدام فرامل هوائية عملاقة، مما يخفف العبء على فرامل العجلات. هذا النظام ضروري أثناء الهبوط، خاصة على المدرجات القصيرة أو في الظروف الجوية السيئة، لضمان توقف آمن وسلس للطائرة.
