«تاج العروس» (7/ 221):
«ووَيْح تُقال لكلِّ مَن وَقَع فِي بَلِيّة يُرْحَم ويُدعَى لَهُ بالتخلُّص مِنْهَا. أَلا ترَى أَنَّ الوَيْل فِي الْقُرْآن لمستحِقيِّ العذابِ بجرائِمهم، وأَمّا وَيْح فإِنّ النّبيّ صلى الله عَلَيْهِ وسلم قالها لعمّار»
