في الـ 18من رمضان من عام 21 هـ توفي سيف الله المسلول خالد بن الوليد رضي الله عنه، بعد أن أذاق المشركين والمرتدين والفرس والروم ويلات المعارك، فما أستطاع أحد منهم كثر جيشه أو قل أن ينتصر عليه ولو في معركة واحدة، ولا حتى في مبارزة منفردة، فمعاركه كانت شاهدة على عظمة هذا القائد الحربي.
